Who would have thought that something so simple, would take so long? If you're friends with me you'll know that not only do I wear a corset every day, but I also walk 4 miles to work. I was after a corset that didn't restrict movement or lung capacity yet still offered lots of shaping and support to the torso.
The answer was a corset inspired by Victorian riding corsets, which were cut lower at the side of the rib, and higher over the hip, to allow for movement.
The extreme version of our Riding Corset is the same cut, but with an additional 2" taken from the waist. So, for example, a size 20" Extreme Riding Corset will be cut to a 22" Riding Corset pattern, but with an extra 2" taken from the waist. The rib remains conical.
Although we use the same busk and flat bone (next to busk) as with our other corsets, the busk does feel very stiff in comparison, especially on the extreme version, due to the cut of this corset. It's not uncomfortable, but just feels very stiff! The stiffness goes after a few wears.
These corsets are designed to work hard and reduce your waist by up to 4 inches. Please deduct 3 to 4 inches from your normal waist measurement to work out your corset size: a natural waist of 29 inches will give a corset size of 26 inches, whilst a natural waist size of 30 inches will give a corset size of 26 inches.
Most suited to vintage figures with a waist 10 inches (or more) smaller than the hip.
* length along front busk 10.25"

Hips: due to the cut of the hips it's difficult to determine fit. I was hoping that hips would be 'free' and fit all, but you do need hips to fill it, so a waist to hip difference of at least 8" is required, and 10" preferred. Bigger hips are not a problem as the corset finishes high at the side your hips, and you body continues the curve resulting in an amazingly smooth line.
